Auditions for Eos Theatre Company's non-Equity production of The Trojan Women by Caroline Bird after Euripides
Directed by Rachel Sledd Iannantuoni (Eos co-Founder)
We are seeking one actor for the role of Talthybius in The Trojan Women, the inaugural production of the newly formed Eos Theatre Company, performances in April 2026 at Bramble Arts Loft
Character Breakdown
Talthybius: open ethnicity, male, 30-45. A Greek soldier who has been at war and has not seen his wife and children for 10 years. After the Greeks conquer Troy, Talthybius is put in charge of managing the Trojan women prisoners of war, who face enslavement by the Greeks, a position which tests his moral compass and ambition to become a General. Following the Army's orders, which include stealing a baby from his mother's arms and sending the infant to death, ultimately destroys him. The role requires emotional depth and skill with heightened language.
Play Description
The war is over. Beyond the prison walls, Troy and its people burn. Inside the prison, the city's captive women await their fate. But their grief at what has been before will soon be drowned out by the horror of what is to come, as the Greek lust for vengeance consumes everything - man, woman and baby - in its path. This caustic and radical new version of Euripides' classic tragedy comes from one of the UK's most exciting young poets, Caroline Bird. It is an intense, gripping look at what happens when the world collapses.
