Description:

City Lit Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for Scaramouche, book by Kingsley Day and James Glossman, music and lyrics by Kingsley Day, and directed by Beth Wolf. This is a non-union production.

Scaramouche is a world premiere musical adaptation of the 1921 novel by Rafael Sabatini. Full of romance, comedy, and swashbuckling swordplay, the story is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution.

AUDITION DATE(S): Initial auditions will be video submissions via Google Form due by 6pm on 10/26.

Mon. 11/10: 10am - 2pm, 6-10pm
Tues. 11/11: 5-10:30pm

PAY:
Principals - $100 rehearsal stipend + $25/show
Understudies - $300 stipend + $25/show on

CHARACTERS:

Seeking a diverse cast of legit singers/versatile actors (all but Andre and Aline play multiple roles). Swordplay stage-combat experience a plus. All roles can be played by any race or gender that fit within the vocal range.

Andre-Louis Moreau (20s), sardonic young lawyer of unknown parentage; baritenor (A2-G4)

Gavrillac/Binet/Bertrand (40s-60s), Andre's guardian/theatrical manager/fencing master; baritone (Bb2-E4)

Marquis de la Tour (40s-50s), evil nobleman and Andre's nemesis; bass-baritone (A2-E4)

Aline (20s), Gavrillac's niece; soprano or mezzo (A3-G5)

Mme. de Sautron (40s-50s), Aline's aunt; contralto (Ab3-D5)

Climene (20s), leading lady of Binet's theatrical troupe; mezzo (A3-F5)

Philippe (20s), revolutionary friend of Andre; tenor (C3-A4)

Chapelier (20s-30s), revolutionary colleague of Philippe; tenor (C3-A4)

Columbine (20s-30s), soubrette in the Binet troupe; soprano (A3-B5)

Pierrot (20s-30s), actor in the Binet troupe; bass (G2-E4)

Material To Prepare:

Please prepare a 60-90 second cut of a song from a classic or post-golden age musical and a 60-90 second contemporary monologue (no dialects).
