
Loose Cannon will be holding auditions for Stop Kiss by Diana Son.
DESCRIPTION: Callie is a traffic reporter living in New York City. Sara is a schoolteacher from St. Louis that has recently moved to the Bronx. Their meeting leads to an unexpected friendship which blossoms into something much more real. After an innocent kiss leads to a terrifying attack, Callie and Sara's lives are changed forever, and are forced to face their feelings and their pasts.
CALLBACKS: Callbacks will take place in person on Sunday May 25th from 12:00-2:00PM, and will consist of reading sides from the script. Sides will be sent to auditioners if selected for a callback.
CASTING NOTE: BIPOC actors and members of the LGBTQ+ Community are encouraged to audition. Some of the characters in this show are on the binary and are referred to using he/him or she/her pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive, and we invite gender non-conforming, transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer actors to submit for any role(s) they identify with. Additionally listed are the race/ethnicity when specific to the character, but are otherwise seeking actors of all races and ethnicities. CHARACTERS:
Callie: (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST) (Black, mid/late-20s) A traffic reporter with all the dark humor that years of living in a big city brings, but often does not have the confidence to go after what she wants. She is strong but messy, wants to get her life together but is struggling to do so. Savvy, sarcastic, clever, guarded. She is in love with Sara, but scared to show her and commit.
Sara: (LEAD) (BIPOC, mid/late-20s) An elementary school teacher from St. Louis who is new to the city and eager to be shown around. She left a secure position, loving family members, and a former boyfriend in Missouri for a much tougher job in the Bronx. Sara is hugely focused and loves a challenge. She is intelligent, shy, curious, and totally unafraid to be herself. She is in love with Callie, and wants her to make a move.
George: (SUPPORTING - Played by the same actor as PETER) (mid/late-20s) Callie's long-time friend and even longer friend with benefits. He is headstrong, loud, passionate, and shares Callie's dark humor. He becomes jealous of Callie and Sara's growing relationship.
Peter: (SUPPORTING - Played by the same actor as GEORGE) (mid/late-20s) Sara's ex but still in love with her. He is a romantic, but naive, jealous, and conservative. He doesn't understand the relationship between Callie and Sara, and assumes Sara will come home to live with him after the attack.
Mrs. Winsley: (SUPPORTING - Played by the same actor as NURSE) (early 40s - early 50s) A witness to the attack. Although often opinionated and can easily offend, she is very open and offers support to Callie.
Detective Cole: (SUPPORTING) (late 30s - mid-40s) Assigned to investigate the attack. Clinical, persistent, meticulous.
Nurse: (SUPPORTING - Played by the same actor as MRS. WINSLEY) (late 30s - late 40s) Kind and understanding to Callie and Sara.
PAY: Stipend ($100/leads and $75/supporting)
First Rehearsal: Monday October 6 at the Edge Theatre
Weekly Rehearsal Schedule: Monday - Wednesday (6:30PM - 10:00PM) and occasional Sundays (10:00AM - 2:00PM)
