"...When it comes to Children's Theater, Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire does an extraordinary job. Known as one of the best companies for solid regional productions, they "shine" at what the present to our future theater audiences. The productions , on their in-the-round stage with very limited sets ( more often than not, the mainstage sets are used to fit in the kids' productions) they bring live theater to the 3-9 year olds and get them involved, not just in the play, but in the "talk-back" session after, where the kids get to ask questions and learn about costumes, rehearsals, learning lines and in general, they get an education about what it takes to bring the "magic" to the stage."

"...The kaleidoscopic nonsense world of Wonderland comes to life in Marc Robin's musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic. The story is familiar but features dialogue updates (characters continually responding to situations with, "Whatever?") making the play more contemporary for today's kids. Robin's songs are clever and catchy, especially as performed by this star-studded cast of Chicago actors, and Matt Raftery's direction and choreography keep the show moving at just the right pace. Even the very youngest audience members (one little girl announced to everyone at the talkback that she was three-and-a-half and planned to be four at her next birthday) will be spellbound by Alice, the White Rabbit, the haughty Caterpillar and the rest of the gang. For parents who might be skeptical of how scary the short-tempered Queen of Hearts is in this production, fear not. She's more bark than bite and much funnier than expected."

"...The barometer of success in a children’s play is how well the production holds the attention of the audience. The theater was packed and the youngsters made up about ninety per cent of the attendees, including numerous three and four year olds I was sure would be trouble once the show began. But the entire house was spellbound throughout the 65-minute performance, fully engaged in the fantasy of the story and the scintillating costumes and visual effects. Even fragments of the permanent “South Pacific” set melded in perfectly with the exoticism of Wonderland."

"...Playing now through mid-May at the Marriott Theatre in Linconshire, Alice in Wonderland is one such adaptation. As far as introductions go, I think the play hit its mark. While I would not go so far as to call any of the musical numbers memorable, the acting and singing was all top notch."
