Admissions Reviews
Around The Town Chicago - Highly Recommended
"...Joshua Harmon’s “Admissions” looks at several parts of how being accepted at a prep school, a private school, or a university can change the way a family’s lives can change course. It may be considered a satire, but as wonderful as the direction (Beth Wolf does a superior job of keeping us into the story from beginning to end ( 95 minutes/no intermission) as we move from the two scenes ( set design by Bob Knuth is powerful and almost looks live able)."

"...This production absolutely zips by, pulling out all the stops and taking no prisoners. It’s so cleverly populated with three-dimensional characters, all armed with biting humor and sharply crafted dialogue. This sharp critique of white privilege and liberalism illustrates what can happen when hypocrisy conflicts with personal interests. "

"...Aptly directed by Beth Wolf, that perceptual imbalance between Sherri and Roberta provide the foundation for frequent incisive and wonderfully humorous scenes that take place whenever the two women sit down to review the promotional catalogs being sent to prospective students. Roberta doesn’t really understand why she must include more pictures of Black students in the recruitment material."

"..."Admissions," a play by Joshua Harmon now at Citadel Theatre, should have its audiences talking about who, how and why a graduating high schooler is readily admitted to the college of choice."
Chicago On Stage - Highly Recommended
"...I always love seeing how the intimate Citadel space is transformed and Bob Knuth’s unified set combining office and home is perfect. Danielle Reinhardt’s creative costuming fits each character but is spot on for Sherri Mason- shifting from professional blazers to comfortable home layers, subtly underscores the character’s dual roles as administrator and mother, a detail that resonated deeply with me as a parent navigating my own child’s college journey. Wolf’s direction is equally skillful, not only in drawing out both the humor and tension in the performances, but in the fluid staging that keeps the dialogue-driven play visually engaging."

"...This well-crafted and contemporary story by Joshua Harmon, is beautifully directed by Jeff Award nominee, Beth Wolf. The set design, by Bob Knuth, was just perfect."

"...Author Joshua Harmon's Admission is the kind of play that doesn't just hold a mirror up to its audience-it asks who's being reflected, and who gets to decide what's "fair." In true Harmon fashion, the dialogue crackles with intelligence and discomfort in equal measure."
