Theatre For One: Here We Are

Live Online

Deeply rooted in the belief that intimacy and human connection is possible at any moment, at any time, and with any person. Theatre For One: Here We Are is a live digital theatrical experience that brings together one actor and one audience member featuring eight new microplays written and directed by Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color. A laugh shared with a stranger, a world created by imagination, a soul nourished through storytelling: these are things only theater can accomplish. Following its critically acclaimed run in New York, Court Theatre brings these eight stories to life with Chicago actors to offer audiences a deeply personal theatrical experience that breaks the boundaries of digital theatre.

Chicago Tribune - Recommended

"...But these works are all by skilled writers, adept at the venerable 10-minute form and executed with great fortitude. And, since we're all caught together in this prolonged, dislocated moment, the works on disparate themes (the concerns of the plays I saw ranged from micro-aggressions to extraterrestrial wanderings) serve as a collective reminder of how much our usual rules of social engagement will need to be re-learned."

"...In a word, it's thrilling. Rarely do you have the opportunity to watch actors create so personally. The 10-minute vignettes are smart, up-close and engaging. Like no other storytelling experience you have seen. Imagine being enthralled by Sydney Charles whose powerful interpretation of a Stacey Rose piece tears at your heart. Or the empathy-filled dialogue of Carmelita Tropicana delivered with sincerity and depth by Melissa DuPrey. Each performance in the grouping of four will leave you wanting more."
