At first, we empathize with Julia, but after a while it's hard not to get a little frustrated with a directionless character who careens from one minor disaster of her own making to another. When the turning point comes—and Kawecki does provide us with a modicum of hope that Julia will come to grips with her life—it's not as convincing as the play's depiction of her downward spiral."

Director Iris Sowlat and an ensemble featuring Pat Parks, Gay Glenn, Joan McGrath and Kendra Verhage ( whose mercurial Treat delivers some impressive cardplay under the instruction of pro illusionist Neil Tobin ) likewise convey warmth and humor sufficient to disarm any worrisome thoughts regarding the passing years disturbing our own sleep."

"...In The Days Are Shorter, Evanston native and playwright Corinne J. Kawecki examines the problems many of us have with aging in a sweet, simple diamond of a play that has heart in spades. That makes sense for a play that deals with love (of each other and of self), relationships, and card magic. (Please don’t call them ‘tricks.”) And it is a good match for Pride Films and Plays, though their smaller Buena Theatre is a bit challenged by the script."
