Poetic Forum Collective presents this inclusive, all-femme reimagining of Saint Joan as a production intended to expose the relationships between women in the workforce. Set in a corporate network world, we follow the journey of Joan of Arc as she navigates status, title and class, striving to find those who will follow her voice. Set in a major television corporation, Saint Joan asks us to examine questions of representation and women's role in advocacy, especially women of color. At the end of Shaw's play, originally placed in the 1400s, Joan asks "O God that madest this beautiful earth, when will it be ready to receive Thy saints? How long, O Lord, how long?" Hundreds of years later, a young black woman named Joan is asking the same question of her world-our world today, one dominated by women of higher class and status, and they're still not ready for her voice. You won't want to miss this fiery retelling of Joan of Arc, featuring 15 femme-identifying artists of many backgrounds!
