Rapunzel

Emerald City brings Rapunzel to the Apollo Theater stage. This quirky musical adaptation was written by the creators of the TV show, Friends.

"I think that there is a great sense of FUN in Marta Kauffman and David Crane's adaptation. It's Rapunzel after all--it's all about letting your hair down!" says Emerald City Producing Artistic Director Ernie Nolan. "The blend of a Broadway sounding score, energetic scenes, and suspenseful moments is right on target for our audiences."

Rapunzel will be directed by Morgan Ashley Madison, who has assisted Nolan on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Frog Prince, Continued, The Cat in the Hat, and Emerald City's premier production for ages 0-4, The Teddy Bears' Picnic.

"While Morgan Ashley Madison isn't new to the company, she makes her Apollo directorial debut this fall," says Nolan, " Morgan, a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul's Theatre Studies program, is the perfect person to helm this show. She brings a playful, sophisticated sense of energy to her work. I'm excited that Emerald City gets to present her Chicago professional debut."

Nolan chose this fairy tale adaptation for the sense of fun in this story about growing up and facing your fears. "There's something for every member of the family in the magic and mayhem that's sure to explode on stage."
