GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY at CIBC Theatre

"Girl From The North Country" is a musical created by Conor McPherson, featuring the songs of Bob Dylan. The story is set in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1934, during the Great Depression. The plot revolves around the Laine family, who run a rundown guesthouse. The family consists of Nick Laine, the proprietor, his wife Elizabeth who suffers from dementia, their son Gene, and their adopted daughter Marianne, who is pregnant and whose baby's father is a mystery. The family's life is further complicated by the arrival of a self-styled reverend bible salesman, Marlowe, and a down-on-his-luck boxer, Joe Scott. Their arrival acts as a catalyst, changing everything for everyone in the house.

The musical has been praised for its fusion of Dylan's music with the narrative, creating a poignant and moving experience. It has been performed in various locations around the world, including London, New York, and Toronto. The musical has also won several awards, including the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. A film adaptation of the musical is also in the works, set to be directed by Conor McPherson and featuring Olivia Colman, Woody Harrelson, Chloe Bailey, and Tosin Cole as the leads.

PETER PAN at Nederlander Theatre

"Peter Pan" is a high-flying musical that has been delighting audiences of all ages for close to 70 years. The musical is based on the play by Sir James M. Barrie, with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, music by Morris (Moose) Charlap, additional lyrics by Betty Comden & Adolph Green, and additional music by Jule Styne. The musical was originally directed, choreographed, and adapted by Jerome Robbins. The current production features a new adaptation by celebrated playwright Larissa FastHorse and is directed by Emmy Award-winner Lonny Price.

The adventure begins when Peter Pan and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinker Bell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night. With a sprinkle of pixie dust and a few happy thoughts, the children are taken on a magical journey they will never forget. This extraordinary musical is full of excitement and adventure, featuring iconic and timeless songs including "I'm Flying", "I Gotta Crow", "I Won't Grow Up" and "Neverland". Peter Pan embraces the child in us all, inviting audiences on a journey from the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning.
