If you can let that go and surrender to the simple but evocative stagecraft (much of it involving the cunning use of two white curtains at the rear of the stage) and often gorgeous vocal arrangements under Nick Sula's musical direction, you may find this show one of the more satisfying musical evenings onstage now."

"...The main draw here is Guettel's exquisite, demanding score, drenched in the influence of modern jazz and the French impressionism of Debussy and Ravel along with touches of rock, gospel, and even an allusion to the score of the famous Slaughter on Tenth Avenue ballet by Guettel's grandfather, Broadway icon Richard Rodgers. The soaring, rapturous melodies and complex harmonies are beautifully, sometimes stunningly sung by Kevin Webb and Elizabeth Telford as the couple and Matt McNabb, Stephanie Souza, Sydney Charles, and Neil Stratman as their friends and family. The offstage band—Sula on keyboard and Nicholas Davio on percussion and guitar—is likewise superb."

Even though I am not a huge fan of the musical itself the talent of the director, ensemble and scenic designer absolutely makes the 10 dollar ticket MORE than worth it. This type of work should be supported because it is risky and pushes these performers/technicians to be better."

"...This is a song cycle by the composer of "The Light in the Piazza". The music is good stuff. The lyrics had problems. Mostly in that they often had very little to do with the construct that doubled as a plot. In truth there was no plot. A wildly inconsistent through line is there one minute, gone the next. It's almost impossible to tell what character any of the actors are trying to portray."
