"...There are some self-consciously twee elements to Payne's construction, particularly in Marianne's Manic Pixie Dream Scientist, but McNulty and Compton's performances are in lovely synch with each other. McNulty shows us Marianne's neuroticism as it edges into bitterness, but it's never pure surface cynicism. She's still a woman who believes that looking for deeper answers, even if they can't be found, is worth the effort. And Compton's Roland warms up and breaks out of his own kind-but-guarded demeanor; the scene where he finally proposes to Marianne, using a tangled analogy about the lifespan of honeybees and "their unfailing clarity of purpose," is absolutely charming."

"...While no substitute for the in person theater that we all hope to attend again both safely and as soon as possible, TATL did a great job picking a show that would translate as well as possible to the screen in your home, and producing a show while keeping cast and crew as safe as possible. Iím glad they are still producing shows, and hope to see their next one live soon."

"... The pandemic has forced theater-makers to re-imagine how to share this art form that wants to be in-person. We continue to play around with Zoom and other streaming services, but Theatre Above the Law has taken a different path. As Lawry explains in his pre-show speech, every safety precaution was considered in producing this show with actors in the same space. If you are like this writer and miss seeing theater in-person, you might agree that this production offers a refreshing option as we watch two characters fall in love on the same stage."
