Chicago Shakespeare Theater is holding auditions for The Notebook.

Characters:
YOUNG ALLIE: Female. Late teens/Early 20's. Especially seeking Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, MENASA, Latinx/Hispanic. Smart, witty, well-educated and beautiful. Must be a thrilling singer/actor with a strong, high belt. PRINCIPAL.

YOUNG NOAH: Male. Late teens/Early 20's. Especially seeking Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, MENASA, Latinx/Hispanic. Handsome. Witty. Mischievous. Must be an excellent actor/singer with strong high notes. (Ukulele/Guitar experience a plus). PRINCIPAL.

GEORGIE, AS CAST. Female. Mid 20s to mid-30s. Especially seeking Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, MENASA, Latinx/Hispanic. Georgie is a friend of Fin's; later his wife. Middle Noah's friend and confidante. Must be very strong singer/actor/comedienne with a strong, high belt. Will understudy the role of MIDDLE ALLIE: Late 20's/Early 30's. Smart, witty, well-educated and beautiful, but a little lost. Must be a thrilling singer/actor. FEATURED ENSEMBLE.

NURSE, AS CAST: Female. 40's to 60's. Especially seeking Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, MENASA, Latinx/Hispanic. To play several ensemble roles including a Nurse at the facility where Older Noah is being cared for. Will understudy the role of OLDER ALLIE: 70's. Suffering from dementia in a nursing home. Must be very strong actor/singer. Will also understudy the role of MOTHER/NURSE BETTY. MOTHER: 40's-50's. Allie's Mother. Strict, protective, caring. NURSE BETTY: Old Noah's primary caregiver at his nursing home. Smart, wry, tough, compassionate. ENSEMBLE.

OFFSTAGE MALE COVER: AEA. Late 50's to early 70's. Especially seeking Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, MENASA, Latinx/Hispanic. To understudy the role of OLDER NOAH: 70's. Any ethnicity. Has a crystal-clear memory of his life and his relationship with Allie. Compassionate, especially in his dedication to his wife. Must be a strong actor/singer. Will also understudy the role of ALLIE'S FATHER/ SON, AS CAST. 50s. ALLIE'S FATHER is wealthy, well-educated. ALLIE'S SON is concerned about the toll his mother's illness is taking on his father.
