Description:

Strawdog Theatre Company announces auditions for our production of HERSHEL AND THE HANUKKAH GOBLINS, based on the book by Eric Kimmel, adapted for the stage by Mike Dailey, directed by Hannah Todd. A stage adaptation of the classic children's book, the show will use live music and puppets to tell the fantastical story of Hershel defeating a series of goblins over the eight days of Hanukkah. Performances will be in-person with a live streaming option for audiences.

Seeking non-AEA actors of all backgrounds for principal and understudy positions, and strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, ages, sizes, genders, and abilities to submit. Due to the content of the show, we are especially interested in hearing from those who identify with or have a background in Jewish culture and/or faith.

We are looking to cast an ensemble of 6 principal actors and 6 understudy actors, made up of strong singers, musicians, and actors with acrobatics, clown, and puppetry experience/training.

Pay rate: $500 for principal actors and $500 for the understudies.

Invited callbacks will be scheduled in-person sometime between August 11-15.

Time Commitment:

Sept 12 to Nov 6, 2021 - Rehearsals

Nov 7 to Nov 19, 2021 - Tech and Dress Rehearsals

Nov 20 to Dec 12, 2021 - Performances on Saturdays and Sundays

Dec 10, 2021 - Understudy Performance

Material To Prepare:

Audition Material (YouTube or Vimeo link)

-One contemporary 60-90 sec comedic monologue

-16-32 bars of a song, either acapella or accompany yourself if you play an instrument (folk or blues song preferred)

-Tell us the silliest/dumbest short joke you know
