Summer Place Theatre
Broadway Backwards

Pay: No Pay

Description:

Summer Place Theatre, Naperville's community theatre since 1966, announces auditions for our original spring musical revue and season fundraiser, "Broadway Backwards", conceived and produced by Jeff Sand, with vocal direction by Emma Gingold and music direction by Rex Meyer. "Broadway Backwards" will be a celebration of your favorite classic and modern Broadway tunes but with a twist - gender and ages reversed from what you expect. "Broadway Backwards" will perform March 13 (7:30pm) and March 14 (2:00 and 7:30pm), at Wesley United Methodist Church in downtown Naperville. Auditions will take place at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center at 305 W. Jackson St. in Naperville, at the following times:

- Saturday, January 25, 1:00-4:00pm
- Monday, January 27, 7:00-9:30pm

We're looking for cast of approximately 12 to 16 people, male- and female-identifying, all ages. Please prepare a Broadway song that you would like to perform in the show, written for a character opposite your gender or age range, and bring sheet music for the accompanist. We may ask you for a 32-bar cut at auditions depending on time constraints. We have ideas in mind for songs we'd like to see performed in the show, but we're also open to include numbers you audition with, if cast, so choose wisely! It is our intent for each performer cast to have one solo and at least one duet, as well as a couple of larger group numbers.

Time Commitment:

We anticipate rehearsals starting the 2nd week of February, with performers being called 1 or 2 times/week (not everyone at the same time). Tech week begins Monday, March 9. Summer Place is a community theatre; all roles are unpaid.
