Description:

NoMads Art Collective is seeking actors for the world premiere of littlespace, or the daddy play by Marjorie Muller.

Content Warnings: Chronic illness, kink, pain bias/health inequity

Synopsis: On a scale of 1 to 10, Bea's pain is a 10, but she'll tell you it's an 8. After putting plans of a family on hold indefinitely, Bea pushes her doctor to test for endometriosis. But normalcy fractures when her husband reveals he's been contacted by a daughter he didn't know he had. littlespace, or the daddy play, exposes a system that discredits women's bodily knowledge, both in their pain and in owning their desires.

*Stipend provided, extra stipend for participating in the January workshop*

Bea, 30s, any ethnicity, femme
A smart, but somewhat lost woman. Trying to find a semblance of reality through her chronic pain, which she believes is endometriosis.
*must be comfortable with staged intimacy (there will be an intimacy designer for this process)

Carrie Ann, 30s/early 40s, any ethnicity, femme
Bea's sister-in-law and best friend. Assistant manager at Walgreens. Brash, single mother, trying to keep her shit together. Not afraid of hurting anyone's feelings for the truth.

Will, 30s, any ethnicity, masc
Bea's husband, a professor of medieval history. Often says the wrong thing. Wants to be a father, has been practicing dad jokes his whole life.
*must be comfortable with staged intimacy (there will be an intimacy designer for this process)

Dr. Riley, late 20s/early 30s, any ethnicity, masc
Bea's stoic OB/GYN. Has a "strong stomach, but a soft mind."
*must be comfortable with staged intimacy (there will be an intimacy designer for this process)

NoMads Art Collective strives to develop new, experimental work by fostering emerging artists as they grow to become the next turbulent American theatre. Through a steadfast commitment to our art, we hope to grow radical empathy in our audiences and ourselves.

Time Commitment:

-- New play workshop: three days in January 2020

-- Full production rehearsals begin March 23, 2020 (Monday through Wednesday 6p-10p; Saturdays 1p-5p)

-- Tech begins April 27, 2020

-- Run is May 4th through May 24th (Thursdays through Sundays at the Greenhouse Theater Center)
