The Wayward War

Pay: Stipend

Description:

The Wayward War is a new Elizabethan history play. When the Duchess of Amosa reveals upon her death bed that her heir apparent, Celia, is bastard-born, and the younger Nolia is in fact legitimate, the question of inheritance becomes muddied. Torn by inconsolable ideals, the sisters cannot rule together, nor will either submit the other's reign. Allies are set against each other and friends are force to watch friends die as freedom and order vie against each other.

SEEKING
10 femme identified/identifying actors

Penti Celia: The (assumed) rightful heir to the throne. A disciplined warrior and leader, who believes the ends justify the means. Similar to Ulysses (Troilus & Cressida), Octavian (Antony & Cleopatra), and MacBeth (MacBeth)

Penti Nolia: Bastard daughter to the Duchess, Nolia is a passionate idealist who connects more to the commonwealth. Similar to Henry V (Henry V), Brutus (Julius Caesar), and Richmond (Richard III)

Dame Grendela: A newly-made knight who enjoys life. Called sloppy and selfish by some (especially Dame Anu). Similar to Fluellen (Henry V) and Sir Toby (Twelfth Night)

Dame Anu: An experienced knight who values propriety and lineage. Called stuffy and prideful by some (especially Dame Grendela). Similar to Don Armado (Love's Labors Lost) and Malvolio (Twelfth Night)

Dame Valion: A renowned and respected knight who values honor. She sometimes finds the honor of purpose is at odds with her personal reputation. Similar to Hector (Troilus & Cressida)

Magistress Dotara: The Duchess' primary advisers. Has the reputation of a rambler and one who is easily manipulated, but may at times prove wiser than she seems. Similar to Polonius (Hamlet) and Gonzalo (The Tempest)

Aquiline, a Squire: A fairly-new squire, sometimes called Quill. Quill dreams of honor and great deeds, but is often distracted by fun, and other temptations. Similar to Hal (Henry IV) and Navarre (Love's Labors Lost)

Eppiniil, a Squire: A fairly-new squire, sometimes called Pinne. Pinne is anxious and shy, but longs for excitement as much as anyone else. Similar to Balthazaar (Much Ado About Nothing) and Moth (Love's Labors Lost)

Igglet, a Squire: An experienced squire, world-wise and (some might say) cynical. Igglet thinks little of honor or morals, being more interested in enjoying life as much as possible. Similar to Falstaff (Henry IV) and Stephano (The Tempest)

Henwith, a Squire: An experienced squire, sometimes called Hen. Hen is considered cynical and pessimistic by most. Similar to Jaques (As You Like It)
