Auditions for the Hitchcock-based comedy, The 39 Steps, by Patrick Barlow and John Buchan, will be held on Monday, December 2nd, and Tuesday, December 3rd, at 7:00 pm. Possible callbacks will take place on Wednesday, December 4th.
Auditions will be held at PM&L Theatre's Tribute Hall, located at 877 Main Street in Antioch, IL.
The director, Casey Audrain (previous PM&L credits include The Diviners and Arsenic and Old Lace) is looking to cast the following characters:
Richard Hannay - 18+ - male-identifying
Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret - 18+ - female-identifying
Clown 1 & Clown 2 - 18+ - male or female
The 39 Steps - equal parts Hitchcock, spy thriller, and Monty Python - is a fast-paced "whodunit" perfect for four strong and versatile actors. It has won two Tony Awards and is filled with constant laughs, over 150 characters, romance, and even an onstage plane crash.
The 39 Steps opens at PM&L on Friday, January 31st, and will run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until Sunday, February 16th. Actors should be available for four nights of rehearsal a week.
Auditioners will be reading selections from the script. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out audition paperwork. The play calls for a lot of physicality so actors should be prepared to move.
