Edge of the Wood Theatre, 6736 N Loleta Avenue, Chicago, announces auditions for its Resident Theatre production of Middletown by Will Eno on November 19-20 from 7-9pm.
Middletown is a deeply moving and funny play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.
Available Roles
Cop: 30s-50s. The authority in town. Not above violence since it's in the natural order of things.
Mrs. Swanson: late 20s - late 30s. Married but alone and pregnant in a new town. Can't quite come to terms with...everything.
John Dodge: 30s-40s. Divorced. Seemingly always between jobs. Anxious. Searching. Alone.
Mechanic: 30s-40s. Town addict. Town philosopher.
Sweetheart: 13-18: Has a mild mental disability. Notices things.

Rehearsals run Monday-Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons beginning in February. Performances run March 20-29, 2020.
