Mauser

Pay: Stipend

Description:

"Mauser" by Heiner Müller is an ensemble show about a soldier's tribunal after the Russian Revolution. Written in the tensions and pressures and contradictions of the German Democratic Republic, "Mauser" asks questions of identity in collective, different scales of consciousness, and whether or not we have to throw ourselves to the causes of changing the world and moving towards Utopia - whatever that is.

This process will ask for creative collaboration and input with the common knowledge that we are working towards performance while not knowing what the show will look like right now. We will be working in the room as generators and slowly put together a piece of work. We are a group of makers interested in holistic art: an honest, kind, and challenging process will lead to a beautiful, revelatory, and purposeful work.

Director: Persephone Jones
Co-Producers: Peregrine Bermas, Stefan Brun, Amelia Mrowczkowski.

Auditions will be held at The Edge Theater, 5451 North Broadway in Edgewater on Friday, October 18th from 5 pm to 9 pm. The Edge is wheelchair accessible.

Artists with different stories, gender and racial identities, disciplines, body type, and ability levels are encouraged to audition. Movement, devising, and non-fiction performance experience a plus.

Pay: Stipend of $150 to $400 in accordance with fundraising efforts.

Material To Prepare:

Create a 45-second performance adapted from or scripted with the attached text. Make it fun or beautiful or terrifying or weird, but please take this as an opportunity to do something you'll love doing or are scared creatively to do.

Please come in with your material memorized (which is not necessarily the text.) You will be asked to perform more than once and to improvise/collaborate on new material in the room with other auditionees.

Contact Info:

Send headshot or a favorite photo and resume along with two preferred audition slots at any 15 minute mark between 5 pm and 9 pm (e.g. 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, and so on). Once you've been confirmed, you'll receive a portion of text from "Mauser."

Slots will be 15 minutes long and shared between two people.
