Pop Magic Productions is recruiting artists to join our Incubator Series project MEDUSA.

Through an intersectional and inclusive creative process devised by artist ensembles in four countries, MEDUSA will deconstruct the legacy of mythology, and our industry's historical precedent for the oppression, objectification, and exclusion of those whose identities fall outside of the majority, with specific focus on gender expression and ability.

This production is an experimentation in devising multiple points of access for audience members, with intention placed on language barriers, the aesthetics of access design, and the experience of people with disabilities.

MEDUSA will mount in multiple Chicago venues August 2019. The rehearsal process begins July 15th and runs through August 15th. 8 performances Thursday - Sunday from August 16th - August 25th. MEDUSA will be performed in Steppenwolf's Look Out Series on August 16th. All rehearsals will take place at En Las Tablas Performing Arts at 4111 W. Armitage Ave 1st Flr Chicago, IL 60639.

Global Hive Laboratories is creating a global rehearsal room. Together, along with ensembles in England, France & Italy, we are reimagining the myth of 'MEDUSA', exploring disparate depictions of femininity, and identifying personal parallels. The project will commence it's Chicago production with workshops at En Las Tablas Performing Arts.

We are looking for multi-disciplined and multigenerational artists, disabled artists, performance artists, artists who are immigrants, artists who are parents, fat artists, queer artists, bilingual artists, and folx who maybe aren't artists at all. Whatever your discipline, we are looking for folx that are eager to create and perform across various art forms, with a strong creative voice and ability to generate collaboratively.

All are welcome to apply, those who work within theatre, dance, sculpture, fine art, drag, costume, make-up, cookery, the list continues. We are interested in hearing from everybody, across every art form.
