The House Theatre of Chicago is holding Understudy auditions for The Nutcracker.
Description: M, 40s+, Actor/Singer (bonus for puppetry and/or movement experience)
External understudy for The House Theatre of Chicago's 2018 production of The Nutcracker, a dark and fantastical adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffmann's story, written by Company Members Jake Minton and Phillip Klapperich, with music by Company Member Kevin O'Donnell and direction by Company Member Tommy Rapley.
** Understudy Requirements: Available and present during Tech, Previews, and Opening Night, and to see the show once per week, following opening. There will be at least 2 understudy put-in rehearsals. Otherwise, you are welcome and encouraged to attend as much rehearsal as you are able, particularly during choreography and music rehearsals.
** Off-book and ready with all songs and choreography learned by 1st Preview.
** Available to go on for all planned performances.
Rehearsals
Beginning Oct 8th, 2018
Schedule: Monday - Wednesday evenings 6pm - 10:30pm;
Thursdays 11:00am - 3:30pm;
Saturdays 10am - 4pm OR 6:30pm (depending on AEA vote at 1st rehearsal; usually tends towards 10am - 4pm) and Sundays 10am - 3pm

Previews beginning November 8th
Opening November 16th
Run November 16th through December 30th
Thursdays and Fridays @ 7:30pm; Saturdays and Sundays @ 3pm and 7:30pm (5-6 performances weekly; 7 performances during week before Christmas)
*** Pick-up/Understudy rehearsals Weds Nov 21st and Weds Nov 28th (all called)
*** No performances on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day
*** Added performances on Nov 23rd, Dec 19th, and Dec 26th
*** Student Matinee performance on Friday, November 30th @ 10am
