Historical Perspectives for Children is conducting 2018-19 season auditions for African-American actors and actresses, ages 22-35, for the role of Martin Luther King in the production, Martin Luther King: Civil Rights Leader, and Harriet Tubman in the production, Harriet Tubman: Conductor of the Underground Railroad to be presented in schools throughout the greater Chicago area.

This is part-time, daytime work with good rehearsal, performance and travel pay. Actors must have a car, be physically fit and enjoy children.

Actors will be called to arrange an audition date/time and to discuss the roles and pay structure in more detail. Rehearsals for MLK and Harriet Tubman will begin near the end of 2018, with performances to be held in schools from January 2019 through about March 15, 2019. Performance schedule TBA, but actors should have flexible daytime availability.

For more than 25 years, Historical Perspectives for Children has been presenting strong historical role models for students in grades K-8 to specifically complement the social studies, language arts and science curricula. Presented in an active story-telling format, each character's full life is vividly reenacted, showing children how they developed the character qualities needed to achieve their dreams and goals. Programs are accented with slides, sound effects and taped voiceover to truly bring each character to life.
