"...Cadillac Palace's Annie is delightfully entertaining and positively fabulous. I love that they included authentic theatrical shows in backdrop images, like Billy Rose's Crazy Quilt, which opened on Broadway on May 19, 1931, and George White's 1919, Scandals, modeled after the Ziegfeld Follies in the background. Kudos to this touring cast, making this two-act, 2 hours and 30 minutes Cadillac Palace's Annie a fantastic date for parents and their kids."

"...It seems that "Little Orphan Annie" has been around for a long time. Most of the theater audiences who run to see the musical "Annie" with a book by Thomas Meehan, Music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, are probably not even aware that it was a comic strip story in the Tribune for many years. Since most of us do not read papers anymore, we probably do not even know what comic strips are, but growing up, the Sunday paper had a section of wonderful comic strips ( some were not funny, but they were still called comic). "Little Orphan Annie debuted in 1924, so it is very near 100 years of storytelling. Of course, she was the main character along with her dog Sandy and Mr. Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks."

"...Although “Annie” is now a staple of most educational and community theatres, and the movie is easily available on DVD or through streaming services, there’s nothing quite like seeing a live, professional production. While this isn’t an Equity offering, but the talent and production values represented on the Cadillac Palace stage are strong. Every single character is memorable and winning. The score is great, the story is another popular rags-to- riches Cinderella tale, and besides a gifted cast there’s the most beautiful, lovable dog that you could ever imagine. And both Addison and Georgie, the two pups who share the role of Sandy, were both rescued from an animal shelter. Another real life rags to riches story! To quote George Gershwin, “Who could ask for anything more?”"

"...And, like so many Broadway in Chicago productions, this one does a stellar job of putting on a beloved show full of song after song after song that are, as the kids would say, real bangers. Skillfully directed by Jenn Thompson and wonderfully choreographed by Patricia Wilcox this production checks all the boxes and then some. And Director Jenn Thompson knows a thing or two about Annie having played the role of "Pepper" in the original Broadway prodution at age ten."

"...ANNIE THE MUSICAL is a guaranteed good time! The head-bopping and shoulder-shimmying score combined with the tale of resiliency and kindness is delightful. In the aftermath of a Trump presidency, the ongoing threat of a global pandemic and increasing massive gun violence, ANNIE continues to be THE exuberant escape from our own hard knock lives."

"...During the final chorus of Tomorrow during curtain call, the audience sings along as well. This new national tour is a wonderful production for both adults and children. It will fill you with happiness. Sometimes an optimistic 11 year old redheaded girl is all you need. You will find her, and her dog, at the Cadillac."

"...So often “Annie” revivals center around a single star taking an adult role, but this is a true ensemble cast where the narrative and the music take precedence. Even the orphan ensemble members delineate each character and sing and dance with aplomb. Special mention must be made of the musical direction of Elaine Davidson who made the score soar with the syncopation and momentum of the 1930s."
