The Tragedy of Tom Riddle

Cornservatory
4210 N Lincoln Ave Chicago

How did a regular wizard become the ultimate embodiment of pure evil? In the world premiere of The Tragedy of Tom Riddle, the theater group Odd Bodkins takes you inside the Harry Potter universe for this prequel explaining how Riddle became Lord Voldemort, told using the style, language, and verse of William Shakespeare. The play explores how Voldemort led a crusade of like-minded wizards on a quest to purify the magical world of half-blood and muggle-born magic users, drawing contemporary parallels to modern-day stories of nationalism, fascism, and racism, and culminating with the collapse of this way of life. Featuring live music and unique staging, this play for Potter fans and newcomers alike will debut at The Cornservatory in Chicago.
