Chicago Reader - Highly Recommended

"...Cerda's play bristles with great one-liners, and the production, under the direction of Cheryl Snodgrass, is packed with superb comic actors. Ed Jones plays Carson's sweet, oblivious mother, a woman who, as in the film, takes way too long to figure out her child is a killer. Fans of the original movie will especially enjoy Elizabeth Lesinski's only slightly exaggerated caricature of Eileen Heckart's turn as the boozy mother of the "bad seed's" victim. Keith Ryan's wonderful wig design tops it all off."

Chicago Theatre Review - Highly Recommended

"...This show kills with its outrageous, adult-themed comedy, and marks another hit parody for David Cerda and his wonderful theatrical company that leaves Ďem dead. With so many movies and television shows still ripe for the ridiculing, Hell in a Handbag, with its hilarious satires and over-the-top performances, has an unlimited supply of untapped material. Itís quite simply a glittering gift that just keeps giving."

Third Coast Review - Highly Recommended

"...Itís all played to comic effect, and Snodgrassí seven-person cast makes the most of the tiny space in Maryís Attic in Andersonville. The DIY feel of Shane Cinaiís set, with hand-painted walls and flimsy door frames, lends itself perfectly to the irreverent scriptóno one is safe from his pen here, as Cerda makes fun of everything from the modern education system to current gender politics in his parody."
