Chicago Tribune- Somewhat Recommended

"...There are some terrific singers - and everyone on that stage clearly understands what this work means to most everyone in the audience. That is not faint praise for this cast. If you want to spend some quality time again with Larson's songs, and hear how interpretations have morphed with a new generation of performer, you will find your night rewarding. Danny Harris Kornfeld, who plays Mark, is very honest. The heart and passion on display is palpable."

Chicago Sun Times- Somewhat Recommended

"...The 20th anniversary national touring company production of Jonathan Larson's "Rent" has arrived for a week-long engagement at the Oriental Theatre (albeit a year after its actual anniversary), and it is a big, in-your-face, emotionally empty rendering of a show that, apart from its moments of New York cynicism and satire, should actually get to your heart. In addition, I would bet the price of a premium ticket that if you asked those seeing the show for the first time about the crucial finer points of the story line or the many relationships at play in the musical, they wouldn't be able to explain them."

Time Out Chicago- Recommended

"...Kaleb Wells and Skyler Volpe, as Roger and Mimi, struggle a bit more to connect with the audience, but that’s been true of these characters in every Rent I’ve seen, saddled as they are with Larson’s most maudlin melodrama and puffed-up power pop numbers. But overall, this tour makes a strong appeal to existing fans of the show’s overly romanticized starving artists, and is likely to make some new converts to “La Vie Bohème.”"
