Quinlyn Can Paint
1133 West Catalpa Avenue Chicago
On the eve of her first solo museum exhibition, abstract painter Olive Hollyhox is being interviewed for a documentary about her life and work. Also being interviewed are Olive's older sisters, Quinlyn and Gabby. It turns out Quinlyn is also a painter. Not that anyone cared. Through fragments of unedited documentary footage, tensions arise and begin to unveil the true nature of the sisters' relationships. This world premiere play by Zach Barr, composed entirely of monologues, explores identity, artistry, sisterhood, and what it means to create-- and leave-- a legacy.
