Ghost - The Musical Reviews
Let's Play at ChicagoNow- Highly Recommended
"...Ghost works because of its excellent directing and cast. It delivers with non-stop action and provides a fun night of theater where you root for love all the way to the end. "DITTO!""
Around The Town Chicago- Highly Recommended
"... For many, the 1990 movie “Ghost”, starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, is considered THE classic love story. In fact, many people, watch it on television at least once a year. Several years ago, a Broadway musical was made from this love story and Chicago was witness to this production back in 2009. It was okay, but certainly needed more work to be as memorable as the film version. The newer version of this musical, now making its Chicago area premiere on the intimate stage at Theatre at The Center in Munster, Indiana is sheer perfection and is a true love story that will bring you the same feelings as the film."
Chicago Theatre Review- Recommended
"...Although this production is not transcendent by any means, it is doubtful that any other production could elevate such flawed material to a greater degree. Much like steamy spectral protagonist Sam, this production exists in limbo - between innovative, evocative storytelling, and saccharine camp. Theatre at the Center's Ghost: the Musical is charming and heartwarming, if not a at times vapid - through not much fault of the production team. At the very least, Donica Lynn and Garrett Lutz alone provide a masterclass in hilariously contentious, dramatically refreshing character relationships. The heart of this cast is bound to leave smiles upturned and spirits lifted."
Chicagoland Musical Theatre- Somewhat Recommended
"...As Ghost haunts Theater at the Center, it proves enjoyable in spite of, not because of, its material. While there are times the show feels like it's drifting through walls, the show has snappy and sincere moments that split sides and make audiences say, "Ditto." Ghosts remain on Earth because they have unfinished business. Applause sets this production of Ghost The Musical free, because despite its flaws, it's finished the business of any piece of theatre: to make audiences smile, and light up their life, if only for a little while. That's what we take with us."
