PrideArts is seeking actors for the world premiere of WHEN THERE ARE NINE by Sally Deering, a dream play reflecting on and celebrating Ruth Bader Ginsburg's life and legacy, directed by Sam Hess. PrideArts is accepting submissions for all roles and encourages actors of all ages (18+), body types, abilities, genders, sexualities, races, and ethnicities to submit.
RBG - female identifying, early 30s to late 50s, must have strong physicality to embody all ages of Ruth's life at any point in the play, she is shown from the end of high school through her final day on earth.
Marty Ginsburg - male identifying, early 30s to late 50s, must have strong physicality to embody all ages of Marty's life at various points in the play, Ruth's charismatic and championing husband
Gabby Williams - female identifying, late 30s to late 40s. This character is of Jamaican origin, actor may be required to speak with an accent. Ruth's guide on her final day.
Jane Ginsburg - Ruth and Marty's daughter, shown at various ages in the script. Casting an adult actor who can play a child. This actor may cover other tracks as well.
Various other speaking roles, representative of both real and fictional people.
Rehearsals will begin January 3, 2021, with a read through to be scheduled for late December.
Previews will be Thursday February 10, 2022 through Sunday February 13, 2022.
Opening night will be Monday February 14, 2022.
Performances will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights at 7:30 PM and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM, February 17, 2022 through March 13, 2022, plus a PWYC performance on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
