Oil Lamp Theater is seeking submissions for its production of the musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. This production will be directed by Jay Pastucha and Music Directed by Daniella Rukin. The production will be rehearsed and presented at Oil Lamp Theater, 1723 Glenview Road in Glenview, IL.

Please Note: This production was originally slated for the upcoming fall. It has been rescheduled to open the 2022 season.

This celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as 'the relationship.' Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, to those who have dared to ask, 'Say, what are you doing Saturday night?'

First submissions will be self tapes. More information about what to submit is included below. If we would like to see more from you, we will notify you about callbacks by October 3. Callbacks will be held at the theater from 7 to 10 pm on Sunday, October 10.

Oil Lamp Theaters Safety Procedures and Protocols
Oil Lamp Theater adheres to CDC/Illinois/County COVID-19 safety protocols, as well as additional protocols designed to prioritize the health and safety of all artists, staff, and patrons. This includes, but is not limited to: screening for artists and staff, sanitizing of the rehearsal space and common areas of the performance and audience space before each rehearsal/performance, upgraded MERV 13 filtration system and air purification in our facilities. At callbacks actors will be asked to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and complete a symptoms questionnaire. Audiences will be only be fully vaccinated individuals who will wear masks while in the theater.

Character Type/Restrictions:
We are casting all roles:
-2 male identifying actors for: Man #1 and Man #2
-2 female identifying actors for: Woman #1 and Woman #2
-1 male identifying & 1 female identifying actors for understudy roles

All cast members must be proficient singers and strong actors. Basic movement is required. Cast members must be comfortable briefly appearing on stage in their underclothes and with basic intimacy (hugging, kissing).
