We will be having two productions this year and we want you in them! All performances will be VIRTUAL & PRERECORDED and all rehearsals for Quarantine Devised Play will be VIRTUAL until two weeks BEFORE tech week, until further notice.

BIPOC Playwrights Festival: $50 Stipend for Playwrights, Directors and Actors/Artists.
Quarantine Devised Play: $100 Stipend for Main 4 Actors & $75-$100 Stipend for Minor Actors depending on role.
Show Descriptions:
BIPOC Playwrights Festival (2 weekend event, May 21st-May30th)- A festival dedicated to BIPOC Playwrights and Artists. 10 One Act Plays, One Person Shows and/or Stand Up Comedy Routines will be accepted and 10 Directors will be selected.
Playwrights & Directors Deadline to Submit: February 28th
Plays & Directors Chosen: March 2, 2021
Directors Decide Which Plays They Would Like To Direct: March 5, 2021
Cast Chosen: March 10, 2021
Rehearsal Run: March 15, 2021 -April 30, 2021 (exact dates to be decided by directors, no more than 10 rehearsals)
One Acts Filmed: April 15, 2021-May 10th (Perceptions Theatre will film unless agreed upon otherwise)
Premier: May 21, 2021
Ends: May 30, 2021
Devised Quarantine Play (Premieres September thru October)- This devised play will follow the lives of four young people and how they have been dealing with this past year. Featuring POV of Actors will work with Director and a Playwright Supervisor to create the play. This play is also accompanied by rapping and singing elements.
Character Breakdown: Ages 14 - 25 (Main Cast), Open Ethnicity.
4 perspectives total: youth use to freedom and partying, incarcerated youth (still in prison), activist youth who become incarcerated after protesting (someone who never went to prison) , and youth with a child. We greatly encourage previously incarcerated youth, activist youth, actors who can rap and/or sing to audition.
Rehearsal Run: April 1, 2021-June 30, 2021 (exact dates tba by director)
Film Dates: June 2021 (exact dates tba)
Premier: September 1, 2021
Ends: October 31, 2021
Actors: 1 minute self tape, contemporary monologue, if you sing and/or rap submit 16 bars of a contemporary song or rap song. Email your headshot/resume and self tape to perceptionstheatre@gmail.com
