Description:

The Riverfront Playhouse will hold in-person auditions for Boise, Idaho by Sean Michael Welch on October 3 & 4 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm as well as October 5th at 7:00 pm at the Riverfront Playhouse, 11-13 S Water Street Mall, Aurora, IL 60505. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script & resumes and headshots are not required.

Please note: You must book an audition date and time so that we can maintain social distancing. There will be a limit of 6 auditioners per time slot.

About the show:
The narrator of a story dutifully chronicles the meeting of a couple in a small cafe in Paris, France, only to start losing control of his characters once they realize he exists. Blending the lines between fiction and truth, this hilarious play examines what should triumph: reality, or a good story.

This is a 30-minute show with a small cast of 4 people. We will follow social distancing rules for outdoors and use masks when not seated in our performing area. Masks will be worn during all rehearsals.

Performances are scheduled for October 23, 24, & 25 at 6:30 and 8:30 pm to be held outdoors (weather permitting) or under the tent at Mora Asain Fusion restaurant located on the mall next door to the Riverfront Playhouse. The show is directed by Tim Curtis.

The Characters:
Narrator - (M/F)
Olston - (M)
Chastity - (F)
Waiter - (M/F) - this is a walk-on/walk-off role.

Ideally, the role of Olston and Chastity will be played by a couple in real life or those who have been sheltering in place together as there is a call for a kiss, as well as a slap in the script. However, if these roles are not cast in that way we will block both of the above differently in a way to maintain a safe distance.

The Setting:
A restaurant.
The "Set" will be two tables, one for the couple and one for the Narrator, 6 feet apart.

A note from the director:
I would like to reassure anyone considering auditioning that the plan for this show is to keep everyone safe and to be comfortable performing again. Nothing is set in stone when it comes to this show, your safety and health is the number one priority. I want this to be a fun and enjoyable return to performing to a live audience for everyone. We will keep rehearsals to a minimum as this is a short show and we can easily run it multiple times per rehearsal. My goal is to get you up in front of an audience and for you to have a fun time with a funny script.

There will be no tickets sold for this event through the Playhouse. The audience will be the diners present at each of the seating times that we will be performing in. As such, our normal cast comp benefit will not apply to this show.
