Hello artists, in light of COVID-19, WE ARE CANCELING ALL IN PERSON AUDITIONS. However, we will continue the casting process through self tapes. Interested parties are still encouraged to submit, and will receive self- tape instructions.
Tellin' Tales is seeking actors/singers, any ethnicity, all gender identities, all ages over 17 years old, any vocal type, for the new musical Transplant. We are casting multiple roles, most of which are specifically for characters with disabilities. Previous acting and singing experience not required. Roles pay a $400 stipend. This is a non-equity project.
About the project and the company:
Transplant is a radically different musical from Tellin' Tales Theatre that shatters the barriers between the disabled and non-disabled worlds. It is a groundbreaking new story that asks what people with disabilities want rather than what they need. In development since 2016, this is our first workshop production, presented in partnership with Victory Gardens.
Tellin' Tales has been performing stories by and about people with disabilities in Chicago for over 25 years. In addition to foregrounding the world of people with disabilities, Transplant introduces new models of adaptive and inclusive casting, design, and direction to the musical theatre landscape. It advocates for the talent of people with disabilities onstage, busts myths spread through stereotyped representation, and expands thinking about disability relationships, work, and sexuality.
Tellin' Tales is seeking actors/singers, any ethnicity, all gender identities, all ages over 17 years old, any vocal type. Most roles are specifically for characters with disabilities, although there are a small number of roles without disabilities available.
Material To Prepare:
Auditioners will be asked to prepare a short side to be provided upon scheduling, as well as 32 bars of a song of the auditioner's choice.
