The Riverfront Playhouse will hold open auditions for Life Sucks by Aaron Posner on Sunday December 15 and Monday December 16 at the Riverfront Playhouse, 11-13 S Water Street Mall, Aurora, IL 60505. AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
In this brash reworking of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, a group of old friends, ex-lovers, estranged in-laws, and lifelong enemies gather to grapple with life's thorniest questions-and each other. What could possibly go wrong? Incurably lustful and lonely, hapless and hopeful, these seven souls collide and stumble their way towards a new understanding that LIFE SUCKS! Or does it?
Director Kas Hesek and Assistant Director Jake Busse are looking to cast 4 women and 3 men for this production of Life Sucks.
VANYA - 40's. A ruminator. A kvetch. A smart, sweet, passionate, insightful, wound-tight failure.
SONIA-20's-30's. Kind, caring, and quirky. Serious self-esteem issues. Not comfortable in her body.
ELLA-30's-40's. Searching, frustrated, hopeful, and sad. Very attractive and rampantly desirable.
BABS-40's-60's. Vibrant, artistic, outspoken, and even enlightened. A great soul and scrappy wit.
THE PROFESSOR-50's-70's. Big mind, big ego, big vocabulary, small-ish soul. Selfish. Well-meaning.
DR. ASTER-40's-50's. Broken, beautiful, dissatisfied, savvy, and sad. He cares deeply and oddly.
PICKLES-30's-50's. An odd, sweet, loyal duck. Very literal. A relentlessly positive utopian lesbian
