New American Folk Theatre is seeking submissions for a Lighting Designer for their upcoming production of MY LIFE IS A COUNTRY SONG written by Anthony Whitaker and Directed by Sarah Gise. The play runs nights November 3 - 21, on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Chief O'Neill's Pub (3471 N Elston Ave) in the upstairs bar. Tech week begins October 28th. Rehearsals begin in late September.

MY LIFE IS A COUNTRY SONG is a life-affirming musical about the importance of our chosen communities, with a score written in the style of classic 70'/80's country music. It is the story of a woman, Donna, and her recovery from domestic abuse and her re-entry into life, set in South Carolina in 1980. It was originally work-shopped at Underscore Theatre's Chicago Musical Theatre Festival and has a cast of six actors who tell the story through the medium of a country concert.
