Staged Reading Swan Soong

Swan Soong is a tale of three powerful Chinese sisters as seen through the eyes of American author and pet ape collector Emily Hahn aka Mickey. Intrigues, love and double crossing abound as these one time celebrities' stories are woven together to reveal the power of family and the beginnings of modern China. A new play by Jyl Bonaguro set in 1940s war torn Shanghai. Male role #1 is TV. Soong, financial wizard and younger brother of the famous Soong sisters; he also plays the dual role of Big Eared Tu, lead gangster of the Shanghai underground. Male role #2 is Sinmay Zau, poet and lover to Mickey Hahn; he also plays the dual role of Generalissimo, the militant president that lead China prior to Mao's victory. Actors can audition for both roles.

Two Production Dates
Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Hinsdale Public Library
Saturday, Nov 16, 2019 at Chinese American Museum
Rehearsals 3-6 prior to each production

Be prepared to read from the script with one brief monologue of choice
