MPAACT announces auditions for a limited performance of Crowns, directed by Chuck Smith, at Governors State University (15-17 November 2019).
CASTING BREAKDOWN
WOMEN:
-Mother Shaw (African American, 70's, grandmother, matriarch)
-Mabel (African American, minister's wife, sharp, sassy)
-Yolanda (African American, 17, rebellious)
-Velma (African American, late 20's, the hat queen with "hattitude")
-Jeannette (African American, mid-30's, flirtatious, fun loving)
-Wanda (African American, 40's, conservative, not very flashy)
MEN:
-Man/Preacher (African American, 30 - 60)
OTHER INFORMATION:
-Please prepare a contemporary monologue (no longer than 2 minutes) and a verse of song, preferably gospel (30 - 45 seconds)
-If invited to callbacks, there will be a movement sequence
-Show run: Friday - Sunday, 15-17 November 2019
-This is a PAID opportunity that will also include a small travel stipend
-Please note: On the day of auditions, we may be filming the audition or taking pictures. This will be for internal purposes only. Please let us know if there are concerns.
