This is a casting call for the first production of An Artist and The Ember: A Self-Love Story (book, music and lyrics by Evan Cullinan) directed by Emily Kipp, choreographed by Kara Schoenhofer, produced for the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival.

The style of the show is like the style of Jason Robert Brown meets [title of show].

CASTING BREAKDOWN:
EVE (LEAD, F, 20s-30s / A3-A5) A composer looking to share her music with the world, an artist. Must be able to play piano.

EMBER (LEAD, Any gender, 20s-30s / A2-A4) An underlying fire burning in the back of Eve's mind.
DANIEL/ENSEMBLE (M, 20s-30s / C3-G4) Eve's friend from college, a photographer. Married to Sam.

SAM/ENSEMBLE (F, 20s-30s / Bb3-C5) Eve's friend from college, an actor. Married to Daniel.
MARTIN/ENSEMBLE (M, 20s-30s / Bb2-G4) Eve's best friend from Chicago, an actor.

SHAY/ENSEMBLE (F, 20s-30s / A3-D5) A woman from Tinder, one not a part of the artistic community.

ENSEMBLE: Playing various roles as well as provide the world of dance and movement in the piece. Must be an above average dancer and strong choral singer.

Auditions will be held at Nox Arca Theatre (4001 N Ravenswood Ave #405, Chicago, IL 60613) on October 21st from 9AM to 1PM. Callbacks will take place October 28th at Nox Arca Theatre from 9AM to 1PM.

A dance call will take place from 9AM to 11AM, approximately, followed by singing. If you identify as female and have tap experience, please bring your tap shoes; however, this is not a requirement. If you are auditioning for EVE, please be prepared to demonstrate your ability on the piano. Please be prepared to stay for the whole four hours.
