The Chicago Musical Theatre Festival is holding a general call for 9 shows in the festival.

Cancerman CLIFF (mid 70s): An embittered, retired, engineer estranged from his daughter
MARY (early 70s): Cliff's sister, retired dental assistant who loves her brother and never married.
ABBY (Early 50s): Cliff's daughter, a singer-songwriter who gained fame with one big song.
3 ENSEMBLE MEMBERS (30s-60s): 1 female identifying, 2 male identifying
YOUNG ABBY/ELLIE/HAILEY -- Cliff's daughter at young ages/late wife at a young age/Cliff's grand-daughter.

Unison (NOTE: None of the roles require the actors to play instruments)
ALICIA (18, Range G3-D5): A disciplined, goal-oriented clarinetist that unravels when faced with failure.
BAILEY (18, Range F3-E5): Alicia's best friend, a storytelling, mischief-making, problem solving clarinetist.
JOHN (18, Range C3-F4): Joey's best friend. A Superhero, Doritos, Volleyball loving trumpet player.
JOEY (18, Range C3-F4): John's best friend. An Arizona ices tea & Lebron James loving percussionist.
KAT (18, Range A3-F5): An always smiling, but constantly screaming inside wood block player.
JILL (18, Range F3-E5): A down to earth cool tenor sax player with pressure to live up to her sister.
NED (18, Range C3-G4): a flautist. Shy, well-intentioned, son of a chemistry teacher.
MS. ANDERSON (late 30s, Range C4-C5): Once wild now buttoned up band director.

HADLEY (16+ playing 12, Mix-Belt to E5): She is headstrong, resourceful, grieving her father.
SPIDER (16+ playing 12, Alto, Mix-Belt to Db5): She is smart, steadfast, loving and socially inexperienced.
MOM (Late 30s-Early 40s): Alto/Belter to D5: She tries and fails to help her daughter Hadley.
ENSEMBLE MALE (Late 30s-Early 40s, Tenor/Belt to F4): Plays a variety of roles throughout.

Oh Hi, Johnny! (Show with-in a show, Music style: Contemporary Musical Theatre)
TOMMY WISEAU (Male, Ageless, Rock Bari-Tenor): Writer/director/star and self proclaimed artist-de-genius. A convincing Tommy Wiseau impression is a must.
LISA (Female, 20s, Mezzo/Belt) Described as Angelina Jolie but more Ellen Page. Excited to be given the part, but terrified of Tommy.
MARK (Male, 20s, Tenor) A method actor/leading male type who's taking this role a little too seriously.
THE STAGE MANAGER (Any Age/Gender, Non-Singing) The voice of reason trying to keep Tommy on track.
DENNY/ENSEMBLE (Male, Late 20s-Early 30s, Bari-Tenor) A miscast young and plucky orphan.
MIKE/ENSEMBLE (Male, 20s, Tenor) Michelle's boyfriend and various other roles.
MICHELLE/ENSEMBLE (Female, 20s, Soprano) Mike girlfriend and various other roles.
FLORIST/ENSEMBLE (Female, Late 20s- Early 30s, Mezzo/Belt) A simple florist.
CLAUDETTE(Female, 30s-60s, Alto) Lisa's mother, The heart of the cast. Miscast either too old or young.
CHRIS-R/ENSEMBLE (Male, Late 20s-30s, Bari/Rapper) Denny's dealer/pimp. A large, imposing figure.
VOICE OF THE ENSEMBLE (Male, Late 20s, Bari) Comedic actor playing a door the majority of the show.
ENSEMBLE MEMBER (Female, 20s, Alto) A drop dead gorgeous dancer who should've been a lead.

Moonshiner FABULIST (Male, 50's-60's,Bari-Tenor Db-Eb): Narrator/Wry comedian plays various characters.
NICODEMUS SILVER (Jazz Bari-Tenor Db-F#): World-weary private investigator, hard-boiled detective.
PETER ORB- (Elvis-ish Tenor, Db-A#) Nerdy insurance actuary/ Cool Fonzy-ish werewolf.
SELENE ORB- (Jazz, Mezzo/Belt F-Db): Aspiring cabaret singer.

Lucky: A Musical (Actors of color are especially encouraged Music Style: Power-Pop)
3 Muses (Female, any ethnicity): Various characters and Greek Chorus, giving insight to Lucky's thinking and behavior.
Piper (Female, Performer of color): One of Lucky's college roommates, a bit of a mystery with excellent comedic timing.
Frat Boys (Male any ethnicity): Truly bro's bros. Dance experience is a plus.
Tiffany & Brittany (Female, any ethnicity) So close they are basically one character. Sorority hopefuls who love Cosmo and Skinny Girl Margaritas.

An Artist And The Ember (Music style: JRB meets [title of show]) EVE (Female, A3-A5) A composer looking to share her music with the world. Must be able to play piano.


EMBER (Gender non-conforming, A2-A4) An underlying fire burning in the back of Eve's mind.
DANIEL/ENSEMBLE (Male, C3-G4) Eve's friend from college, a photographer.
SAM/ENSEMBLE (Female, Bb3-C5) Eve's friend from college, an actor. MARTIN/ENSEMBLE (Male, Bb2-G4) Eve's best friend from Chicago, an actor. 



SHAY/ENSEMBLE (Female, A3-D5) A woman from Tinder, one not a part of the artistic community.


ENSEMBLE: Playing various roles. Must be an above average dancer and strong choral singer.

SHERLOCK HOLMES (Male 20s-30s, Baritone): Tall, thin, pale, very eccentric, unemotional, but brilliant detective.
DR. JOHN WATSON (Male 20s-30s, Tenor): Holmes' roommate, friend, and partner. His leg was wounded in the war, so he walks with a limp.
PROFESSOR MORIARTY (Male 30s-40s, Britone): Tall, thin, and pale, nemesis to Holmes that's dons several disguises.
INSPECTOR LESTRADE (Any Gender, 20s-30s, Baritone or Mezzo): the bumbling Scotland Yard inspector.
CECIL BARKER (Male 30s-40s, close harmonies a must): a middle‐aged, rugged American man.
MR. DOUGLAS (Male 30s-40s, close harmonies a must): a wealthy, American man from new money.
MRS DOUGLAS (Female 30s-40s, close harmonies a must): wealthy British woman from new money.
MRS. HUDSON (Female, 40s-60s, Alto): Holmes' and Watson's landlady. A Middle‐class elderly Scottish woman.
