J. Lindsay Brown Dance seeks 3-4 company dancers for their concert on March 1-2, 2019 and beyond. The company (established in 2013) has performed in almost every setting, from site-specific dances in the park to formal sold-out-standing-room-only concerts.

Auditions will be held at 1500 w Elmdale Ave, Chicago

Dancers will receive rehearsal and performance pay, and a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year, and will rehearse on Thursdays from 11AM-1PM in Evanston, and on Sundays from 4-7pm in Edgewater. There is NO audition fee.

Promising candidates will have strong modern/contemporary technique, a love for improvisation, and some proficiency in ballet and partnering. Many company works involve text and speech, so dancers should be comfortable with speaking onstage. A sense of humor and collaborative spirit is required.

Dancers should be ready to dance by 4pm. The space will be available starting at 3:30pm. Please bring a headshot and a performance resume. Digital copies not accepted, they must be printed.

At the audition, dancers should expect:
- improvisation
​- repertory
- exercises involving collaboration and speaking while dancing.

Dancers should also prepare a 1:30 minute(ish) solo, choreographed by the performer and showcasing their own unique style of movement. There is no need to dance pretty during this solo--we want to see the real you!
