ENDEAVOR MIND
by Kim Z. Dale
Directed by Jen Poulin
October 5-27 @ The Den Theatre
Rehearsals begin August 13

Claudine is a brilliant academic who sometimes wonders if she has settled for family and a boring job instead of pursuing her full potential. So when a new brain-enhancing technology is developed, she jumps at the chance to be part of the program and pursue the dreams she had set aside. But this experiment may have unintended consequences, for Claudine and for those around her. Inspired by Faust, The Twilight Zone, and Black Mirror, Endeavor Mind is where corporate science, human biology, and intellectual aspiration converge. NOTE: This show contains some intimacy and sexual content (specifics below).

ROLES AVAILABLE

CLAUDINE DELANEY (40s-50s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) A computer scientist who lowered her career aspirations after becoming a mother. Very intellectual. She thinks with her whole body. Very curious. Eclectic interests. Requires some kissing/intimacy with Ray and simulated masturbation.

RAY DELANEY (40s-50s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Claudine's husband. Patient and kind. Stable and reasoned. Requires some kissing/intimacy with Claudine.

ADDISON DELANEY (Teens-20s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) Claudine and Ray's daughter. Starts the play as a teenager and is a doctoral student by the end. Takes strongly after her mother.

FRANCES WESTMORE (40s-50s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) Researcher, genius, and entrepreneur. Passionate and persuasive. A charismatic, female Elon Musk.

MUNSTERSPIEL
by Gregory Peters
Directed by Jack Dugan Carpenter
February 15 - March 16 @ Berger Park Coach House
Rehearsals begin late November

In 1534, a group of Anabaptists took over the city of Münster, instituted a communist theocracy, and held the city against a siege for a year and half. Inspired in part by Greil Marcus's Lipstick Traces, Münsterspiel is a tragicomedy about The Reformation, revolution, punk rock, time travel, dada, conspiracy, living under siege, the nature of humanity, the nature of time, the nature of nature; featuring drummers, assassins, seers, tailors, torture, dumb jokes, stolen jokes, anachronisms, amateur sermons, nonsense, theological discussions, violence, and a sincere hope for the end of the world as we know it. NOTE: This show contains a fight between a drummer and an assassin.

ROLES AVAILABLE

JOE (30s-40s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Former baker, current Anabaptist prophet. Serene, loving, empathetic. Married to Divara.

DIVARA (20s-30s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) Formerly a nun, currently a mystic, a prophet, and married to Joe. Can see the future, most of the time.

JOHN (20s-30s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Former tailor, current Anabaptist prophet, later king. Groucho-esque, anarchic, charismatic.

JANE (30s-40s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) 21st-century person who finds herself in 1534. Requires knowing/learning how to play a sting (rimshot) on drums. More drum playing ability a plus. Also will have a fight wielding drumsticks.

BERNIE (30s-50s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Pastor of Münster. A towering intellect and firebrand whose writings are still studied.

ARTEMIS (20s-40s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) Assassin and fixer for the powers that be. Total pro who believes in her work. Will have a fight wielding a knife or two.

NIPS (30s-50s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Merchant, guildmaster, mayor, religious zealot. Has a limp and some authority issues from being tortured, understandably. Nice guy, though.

HENRY/ABBOT/ULRICH (30s-40s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) HENRY - Formerly mayor of another town, currently a "journalist" writing the story of Münster as he sees it. ULRICH - military captain with a streak of decency.

WALDECK (40s-50s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Not a nice man, certainly, or even decent, but maybe he was raised that way. Nature vs. nurture and all that.

ALFRED/HILLE/GIRL (Teens-20s, female-identifying, any ethnicity) 1530's teenagers... always getting into trouble that ends in their death.

PRIEST/GRAES (30s-50s, male-identifying, any ethnicity) Two terrible people.
