MadKap Productions, at the Skokie Theatre, is casting PROOF by David Auburn which premiered on Broadway in October 2000. It received national attention, earning the Drama Desk Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the Tony Award for Best Play.

Auditions for all roles will be held at the Skokie Theatre on Monday, July 9, 2018 with callbacks on Thursday, July 12, 2018.

CAST DESCRIPTIONS
Catherine is a 25 year old girl who is living alone in her house. She left college to go and look after her father who had a mental illness. She hasn't had much social interaction in the past 9 years. Catherine has an awkward personality and is often sarcastic. She continues on her father's work even after he has died. She fears she might have the same mental illness as her dad.

Robert is Catherine's father. He died before the play even begins and he was a very famous mathematician. In his fifties, he died of a heart attack. In his twenties he got a mental illness that slowly deteriorated his sanity. He eventually had to be taken care of by his daughter Catherine. Robert became obssessed with working on math. He focused only on math and he was trying to get Catherine to collaborate with him. Though he thought what he was writing was groundbreaking, It was mostly gibberish.

Claire is Catherine's sister and Robert's other daughter. She comes from New York to take care of Catherine after Robert died. She is not as smart as Catherine is and they have never quite gotten along. Claire wants to bring Catherine back to New York. She is a more practical person than Catherine Robert should have been institutionalized instead of having Catherine take care of him. Claire has a fear for unpredictable things like their mental illnesses.

Hal is a previous student of Robert. Though not a very great mathematician himself, Hal idolizes Robert's work and wants to know more about it. Hal is insensitive, manipulative and invasive. He uses Catherine when she is vulnerable to get to Robert's work with no care for her feelings, even though he may be romantically interested in her.
