With a Machete Productions Productions will hold auditions for a concert-style staging of HILDEGARD, a new musical about Saint Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th-century abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, and polymath.
It's 1136: The abbess has died and Hildegard has emerged from 30 years of confinement. Ordered by God to record her visions, Hildegard will go on to write one of the first recorded operas, petition for change in the Church, and share some of the most impactful theology in the history of Christianity, and impress the Pope. But first she must trust her voice. From the writers of The Church of Modern Love and The Thanksgiving Circumcision comes a new musical about a woman searching for truth and purity in a fallen world.
ALL ROLES OPEN. 8 female-identified performers, 3 male-identified performers. LGBTQ and POC performers strongly desired.
