GreenMan Theatre is holding auditions for Monstrous Regiment, based on the adventure fantasy novel by Terry Pratchett, directed by Justin Vidovic. This adaptation is by Christopher Hainsworth and premiered at Lifeline Theatre in 2014.
In a war torn country ruled by men, seven women hide their gender and join the army. One of them is a vampire, one is a troll, one is an Igor, and one is a pyromaniac. Together they save their country and bring down the patriarchy! With parts for seven swashbuckling women and four men. Rehearsals will be Sunday afternoon or evenings, and three weekday evenings a week, depending on actor availability. Auditions will be based on cold readings from the script.

Polly Perks: (female pretending to be teenage boy) Former barmaid who knows how to bar fight, she has joined the army to search for her missing brother.
Maladict: (female pretending to be 18 - 22 year old boy): An elegant and aristocratic vampire who is smart and tough as nails but has replaced her blood addiction to an addiction for coffee... without which she will return to her uncontrollable blood lust.
Sgt. Jackrum: (male, 50 to 65) The gruff experienced leader of the regiment, fiercely protective of his soldiers, with a secret of his own.
Lt. Blouse: (male, 25 - 40) The officer of the regiment, cheerful, full of ideas, he has learned about war and combat only through books and is getting his first shot to prove himself at the real thing.
Carborundum: (female, 17 to 30) A giant slow thinking troll made of stone, who has joined the army in search of love and adventure.
Igorina (female, 17 to 30) Looks like a typical hunchbacked Igor; she has joined the army to prove herself a female surgeon in a world that only respects male Igors.
Wazzer: (female, pretending to be teenage boy) A beaten orphan who has become a religious fanatic. She is sometimes possessed by an aristocratic and imperious ghost. Joined the army at the request of the ghost that speaks to her.
Lofty: (female, pretending to be teenage boy) A beaten orphan, meek and quiet, who only comes alive when she gets to set things on fire. Joined the army to escape her abusive home.
Tonker: (female, pretending to be boy) Lofty's lover and protector. Escaped from the home to find a better life for her and Lofty. Tough, but also broken inside from abuse.
Two Male Actors to play four roles each, must be versatile character actors.
Auditions are February 25th at 2:00pm and February 26th at 7:00 pm with callbacks if necessary on February 28th at 7:00 pm at Greenman Theatre, First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst, 232 S. York, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
Opens April 13th and runs three weekends to April 30th.
