Village Theatre Guild in Glen Ellyn is seeking all roles for the musical, She Loves Me to be presented May 25 - June 16, 2018. This musical comedy in a 1930s European parfumerie reveals the romantic adventures of charming shop clerks; including two who can't stand each other but write anonymous pen-pals from a personals ad. It features songs by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and a book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret). You'll float home happy from this multiple award winner that first premiered on Broadway in 1963, and today still has a faithful cult following and multiple revivals.

Mr. Maraczek: Male 55-65 - Shop Owner (sings)

Keller: Male 30-40 - Detective, does not sing but could be ensemble member

Headwaiter: Male 25-55 - Sings, and could be ensemble member

Ilona Ritter: Female 25-35 - Shop Clerk (sings)

Amalia Balash: Female 25-34 - Lead, Shop Clerk (sings)

ENSEMBLE: 5 Males, 5 Females Assorted ages, some sing in solos, some sing in groups, ensemble will also perform supporting roles

Material To Prepare:

Prepare 1 minute of a musical theatre song in the style of the show that best shows off your voice for the primary audition, and bring a second selection as a backup. Bring sheet music in your key; an accompanist will be provided. A CD with an accompaniment-only track is also acceptable, provided it is edited and cued correctly. Acappella auditions are NOT acceptable.

Please also wear or bring comfortable dance attire, as all that audition will be required to learn a short dance/movement combination.

There will also be cold readings from the script. Scenes will be available in advance at http://villagetheatreguild.org

All those auditioning are encouraged to provide a resume of their onstage experience when registering for auditions on-site. Please bring a list of all potential conflicts including travel, etc. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Producer and agreed to by the Directors before casting can be confirmed.
