A Body of Water

Pay: Stipend

Description:

Elsinore seeks submissions for its next production, Lee Blessing's A Body of Water. The director is Derek Bertelsen. Auditions will be held from 10 AM - 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 16.

About The Show:
Moss and Avis, a middle-aged couple, wake up one morning in an isolated summer house high above a picturesque body of water. The weather's fine; the view's magnificent. There's only one problem - neither of them can remember who they are. When a young woman named Wren arrives, information starts to flood in. But will it help? Her explanations seem only to make Moss and Avis' world - as well as ours - more terrifying.

Available Role:
Wren - Presents as mid-late twenties. Razor-sharp mind, lacerating wit, a runner. She may be Moss and Avis's daughter. (Or she may not be.) She may be their lawyer. (Or she may not be.) Whoever she is, Wren is a rock in constantly shifting waters. The role includes a moment of unarmed stage combat; a certified fight director will be on the production team to ensure the violence is staged & learnt safely.

There is a $300 stipend. Rehearsals begin the week of September 14, with a commitment of three evenings a week and possibly one weekend day. Performances will take place in Studio 44 at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL ). A Body of Water runs November 5 - November 22. Preview on Thursday, November 5, with press opening on Friday, November 6. Performances run Thursday - Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM.
