One Party Consent
Written by Omer Abbas Salem
Direction by Nadya Naumaan

Trust is tricky. You enter working relationships and it's unprofessional not to offer it. When you feel your trust challenged, you convince yourself that you're the problem. And some people take advantage of that. Fola is an MFA directing grad student stepping into a mid-year review with their advisor. What happens when you record a professional meeting and you don't tell the other? And what do you do when you record something really incriminating? This is a play about the degradation of trust.

Characters/Tracks
-Fola- A non-binary person of color. The nationalities can be changed to anything the actor feels comfortable with. Fola enjoys telling you when they know they are right. It's the only thing they like more than being right. They can get more emotional than they mean to and go harder than they need to. They are inarguably very very good at what they do. Casting Understudy Only.

-Dean Ellen Healy- A white person between 45-65. She means well. She tries hard. She wants to get it right. But she's also not used to being corrected this often. She's run the department for a decade and is the first female department head in the university's existence. They had to build a women's restroom on the office floor for her.

-Sandra- A person of color. The race and the name can be changed to fit the actor. They speak volumes with how much they withhold. They are not invisible but their job is to be invisible. Sandra and Ms. Brite are played by the same actor. Casting Understudy Only.

-Ms. Brite- A person who holds her cards to her chest. She really should work for some fortune 500 company but she works at the university. She is the youngest in her department and probably the smartest. She is an alumnus and has known Dean Healy for many years. Sandra and Ms. Brite are played by the same actor. Casting Understudy Only.

Compensation
-Principal pay: $100/week, totaling $1,100.
-During performance period, pay for missed performances due to MREs at $25/performance will go to understudy as go-on bump, no pay will be forfeit for a COVID absence.
-$600 Understudy Stipend (not including potential go-on bumps)
