"...Is there anything more fun than an opening night for "A Chorus Line?" When the curtain rose Friday night at the Drury Lane Theatre on a stage packed with dancers, the place erupted. I remember thinking that, just months or so ago, we'd also all have been weeping at the return of something that we'd worried was gone forever. Mercifully, not so. But from such a lesson should be born greater appreciation."

"...If you passed by Drury Lane Theatre during last week's opening of "A Chorus Line" and didn't know better, you might have mistaken periodic roars erupting from the venue for basketball fans cheering an NCAA men's final. That's how rapturously the audience greeted Drury Lane's revival of the beloved backstage tuner about dancers auditioning for a spot in a Broadway show."

"...Sawyer Smith delivers comedy and pathos in the revelatory, comedically irresistible Bobby, a self-described “strange” kid who embraces his strangeness early, fiercely, and without reservation. And when Yesy Garcia sends “What I Did for Love” soaring toward the gods, it’s a benediction for the brutal, beautiful business of show."

"...A Chorus Line two-act production with songs, I Hope I Get It, Sing, and its most famous musical song, One, runs approximately 2:25 and includes one intermission — and is a thrillingly entertaining, witty, and heartbreaking musical that gives dancers a voice!"

"...One Singular Sensation! This is a solid description of Drury Lane Theatre’s production of “A Chorus Line” that opened last night. The audience anticipated what was to be on their simple stage- a group of talented people bringing to life a story that is part of their own lives and existence. For those of you who are not in the know about this work of art conceived by Michael Bennet ( who also directed and choreographed the original), with a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, it is the story of young dancers auditioning for a chorus role in a new Broadway musical. The play takes us deep into their very beings as we learn more about each one during the show."

"...A brilliantly gifted cast of truly likable actor/singer/dancers, stunning choreography and dramatic guidance by Jane Lanier, superb musical direction by Carolyn Brady and masterful musical accompaniment conducted by Christopher Sargent’s seven-member pit orchestra make this production a must-see. For newcomers to this dazzling homage to the struggling artist who really needs this job, as well as for seasoned audiences longing to revisit a show from Broadway’s heyday, Drury Lane’s new production of “A Chorus Line” proudly stands as a golden classic for the ages."

"...There's certainly humor, drama and enough raw talent to wax poetic about the nuances each of these twenty-seven singular sensations brings to Drury Lane's Chorus Line. But the real takeaway is that this ensemble encourages patrons to ask themselves the seasonally appropriate question each of them answers with their splendid performance: What would you do for love?"

"...If you're a fan of the show, this production of A Chorus Line hits all the notes. We feel the story from each of these characters. This is also for anyone not yet familiar with this classic but who enjoys musicals with a character focus."

"...I am one of the lucky people who got to see A Chorus Line during its original run on Broadway. Well into its original run, certainly, but a Broadway mainstay in that era for a reason. I can say without a doubt that the version running now at Drury Lane in many ways compares favorably to the Broadway production I saw so many years ago."

"...A Chorus Line, Michael Bennett's iconic love letter to performers on the line anywhere, opened last night at Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace. How do I write about this show which holds a special place in my heart? During the late '70s and '80s, I saw ACL 13 times at the Auditorium, Shubert and Blackstone theaters. I was lucky to see Bebe Neuwirth, Robert LuPone and Tony Teague in lead roles. Director Jane Lanier has preserved Michael's vision from 1975 including original choreography by Michael Bennett and Bob Avian and book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante. Jane, I (and countless others) cannot thank you enough."
