World Builders Reviews

"...After a chance encounter during a clinical trial, the couple establish a budding relationship that's put to the test when they’re forced to choose between the meds and their mental worlds. Directed by Jesse Roth, this First Floor Theater production features snappy dialogue and fearless performances by Carmen Molina and Andrew Cutler as two people coming to terms with who they are and how they choose to live, in realms both real and imagined. "...The bright spots of this play are the moments that aren't seen, but heard. Cutler and Molina both created such depth to their inner worlds of life, love, death, suspense, and intergalactic policy that the world they were living in began to pale in comparison. I do think that is along the right track. Adams script does seem to call for the audience understanding the need to escape this world that the characters feel. But as their worlds fade, the real world of the play fails to pick up the energy and intrigue and instead leaves a hole that they can't get out of."

"...This is a smart play, a cerebral drama that relishes language and creativity. While opening a discussion about mental health, as well as an argument against the use of drug therapy, it taps into the audience's own private fantasy worlds. While all of us don't go to that place and dwell there for hours at a time, every one of us experiences flights of fantasy. Some are exotic and dangerous; others are more conventional and realistic. Often they involve the "What if" aspect of life, the speculation about the road not taken. But in this captivating drama we're taken on an adventure into brand new territory that will stay with audiences well beyond the final bows."
